General
“Ranger” easily earned his AKC Bench Championship- earning four and five point majors back to back at the Maryland Sporting Dog Shows! Ranger was also Best in Sweepstakes at several American Chesapeake Club Supported shows- at Philadelphia Kennel Club and Greensboro Kennel Club in North Carolina . Ranger was Reserve Winners Dog at the 2004 American Chesapeake Club National Show Specialty in San Diego . Ranger was a singleton pup (the only pup in the litter) and one of the last pups born from his sire "Rudy". Having a father who is a field trial dog helped Ranger to be a retrieving machine! But certainly one of his best attributes was his charming personality!
Physical Conformation
Ranger was a nice sized male, with good length of loin, a powerful rear and one of the most correct heads in the breed today! His top skull was broad and rounded, his small triangular ears were set correctly, with tight lips and good jaw and muzzle giving an over all wedge type shape. His eyes were soft with a wonderful happy expression. Ranger was well coated with a nice tail set and carriage.
TEMPERAMENT ~ TEMPERAMENT ~ TEMPERAMENT!
Ranger’s best feature by far was his outstanding temperament! Even as a singleton (litter of one) puppy he proved to be non aggressive or territorial towards other males. His love of children is evident in the video featured titled “Summer Swim”. He truly enjoyed allowing the children to ride on his back down the rapids of our stretch of the Muddy Creek. Ranger also enjoyed playing leap frog with the children off the rock outcroppings in the creek. Ranger was an easy going loving fellow who is a joy to own.
Retrieving, Trainability & Skills
Even as a young puppy, Ranger sat and watched the geese fly overhead and tried to retrieve any that landed in the hay field. Saying he loved all things “feathered” would be an understatement! Ranger loved retrieving and was a stylish quartering dog. Ranger worked through difficult training scenarios, and took corrections very well- without sulking.
Off-Spring
Ranger’s has offspring that are owned by other Chesapeake breeders and Gun Dog Trainers. Ranger has produced wonderful companion hunting dogs and loyal family pets.
Stud Services & Location
Ranger is currently residing with a family near Annapolis MD. Frozen semen is available from Clone Inc. All stud services are arranged through LongMeadow.
